Horizons English is offered for kids in 4th and 5th grades. with a full-range English curriculum: writing, reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. It includes fun projects to build success and the love of writing! Look out!  You won’t believe how kids are motivated to write after taking this class! (Not offered in 2024. Strong fifth graders may come to Jumpstart.)

Jumpstart English is offered for students in 6th and 7th grades and strong 5th graders). This class includes a complete curriculum:  Writing (lots of fun projects), reading skills, creating a “ME” book, grammar (from a practical use point of view), an individual spelling program, and vocabulary from literature.

Focus English is offered for students in grades 7 and 9. The class curriculum includes a full-range of English skills: exciting types of writing, reading comprehension, a vocabulary program based on Greek and Latin roots, prefixes and suffixes, developing grammar, and an individual spelling program.   **Grade levels with homeschooled students often vary. Contact me if your child is advanced or behind and we can make adjustments for them to be in just the right class.

Spectrum English is offered for students in grades 8 and 9.  It offers a full-English curriculum including developing writing skills to be prepared for high school,  reading comprehension,  vocabulary based on Greek and Latin roots, prefixes and suffixes, focused grammar studies, and an individual spelling program. (Not offered in 2024)

High School Concepts is offered for students in grades 9-12 Curriculum includes: reading comprehension and analysis — using a variety of novels, plays, and short stories; various types of writing to prepare for college writing — including highly developed paragraphs, essays, narratives, journalism, book reviews,  and a research project;  vocabulary from roots, prefixes and suffixes; speech; and an individual spelling program.

American Literature is offered for students in grades 10-12 (and some advanced 9th graders). It is a college prep class so that students will be ready to write at a college level, as well as developing reading skills with strong evaluation tools. Students also participate in a vocabulary program to prepare for college entrance tests. Advanced grammar is also included. (Not offered in 2024)

In April, for three Tuesdays , I offer two (possibly three) specialty classes with NO HOMEWORK. In the past, these have included CONSTITUTION CAMP, Old Testament Survey (where students will follow the Old Testament history using 10 maps.); New Testament Survey; Drama Script Reading (where kids get to read parts to plays and also learn auditioning skills.) and Creative Writing! $60 per class. No material fees. You can take one or two classes. Scroll down to link to the registration page.

NOTEMany home schooled students are ahead (or behind) their age/grade level match.   I’d love to discuss with you the best class for your student to attend.  Many times I ask new students to write a paragraph or an essay to determine the best class for their skill levels. If you have attended classes with me before, you could be moved up to the next class, even if your grade doesn’t match.

Below is the Class Schedule for September, 2024 through March, 2025. Classes were held on Tuesdays We try to accommodate siblings in classes that follow one another. I offer a study table in another room for siblings to wait for each other.
